Manufactured in the RCA Harrison, New Jersey plant during the last full year of American receiving-tube production. The 5U4GB variant substitutes an amber base for the earlier bakelite; internally it is identical to the domestic version distributed to the military under CV1863.
A workhorse — not glamorous, not collectible for its own sake, but the correct rectifier for a Fender Bassman, a Hammond amplifier, or any of a hundred communications receivers. Filament and plate structure are the standard octal ST-shape with the RCA plant code stamped in white on the glass.
